Get ready for some of the best goose hunting California has to offer. Our guided hunts with Waterfowl Pursuit Guide Service put you right in the thick of the action during peak season. From late October through mid-February, we'll have you set up in prime fields where the geese are flying. Whether you're a seasoned waterfowler or looking to bag your first honker, our experienced guides know how to put you on birds.
We kick things off bright and early, meeting at 6:00 AM to get situated before first light. Our hunts run until noon, giving you plenty of time to work the fields and rack up your limit. We've got access to some of the most productive ag land and wetlands in the state, where geese love to feed and rest during their fall and winter stays. Expect a mix of Canada geese, snow geese, and white-fronted geese (specklebellies) depending on the day and conditions. Our guides are pros at reading the weather, scouting bird patterns, and getting you into the right spot for success.
We primarily hunt flooded rice fields and dry grain fields that geese can't resist. Our blinds are top-notch, keeping you hidden and comfortable while we work the birds. We use a mix of full-body decoys, silhouettes, and motion decoys to create realistic spreads that bring geese right into shooting range. Calling is key, and our guides are masters at reading the birds and knowing when to hit 'em with some aggressive honks or lay off for that subtle finishing touch. You'll learn a ton just watching these guys work.
Make sure to bring your own shotgun (we recommend a 12-gauge) and steel shot loads. Remember, steel shot is required for waterfowl hunting, so leave the lead at home. Waders aren't always necessary, but waterproof boots are a good idea. Dress in layers – mornings can be frosty, but it often warms up as the day goes on.

Canada Geese: The bread and butter of our hunts. These big birds average 7-14 pounds and offer some of the most exciting pass shooting you'll ever experience. Their distinctive honking is music to a waterfowler's ears. They're wary birds, so decoying them successfully is incredibly rewarding. Peak numbers usually hit in December and January.
Snow Geese: Often traveling in massive flocks, snow geese can create quite the spectacle. They're smaller than Canadas, typically 5-6 pounds, but what they lack in size they make up for in numbers. Snow geese are notoriously difficult to decoy, making a successful hunt extra sweet. We usually see the biggest pushes of snows in late fall and early winter.
White-fronted Geese (Specklebellies): A favorite among many hunters for their distinctive call and excellent table fare. "Specks" are about the size of a small Canada goose and are known for their wariness. Getting a flock of specks to commit to your spread is one of the most thrilling moments in waterfowling. They're often mixed in with other geese, adding variety to your hunt.
